Press Release Body = Mirage Networks®, Inc., developer of award-winning Network
Access Control (NAC) technology, announced today the Department of Housing and
Community Development of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (DHCD) has chosen Mirage
Endpoint Control to protect its network from threats and policy violations which can
negatively impact operational cost and productivity.
"We needed a NAC solution, but after months of reading and researching I learned
that most solutions are too difficult to implement, require too many resources and
cost more than I could afford," said John Kupchaunis, Director of Information
Technology for the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development.
"Then I was introduced to Mirage Networks. They had an easy to implement, easy to
manage, agentless solution that was at a price point within my budget."
The Mirage Endpoint Control solution monitors all network devices both before and
after users attempt to log onto the network, combining pre-admission authentication
and compliance checks with post-admission behavioral monitoring. The process
delivers a comprehensive, full-cycle NAC solution.
"We have always prided ourselves in running a clean and compliant network. We were
wrong. After plugging the Mirage NAC device into the network, it immediately found
numerous policy violations. This included rogue Web servers, unauthorized access
points, and unknown devices," continued Kupchaunis. "For the next few weeks, we
remedied the policy violations and let the Mirage device learn our network. We then
put the device into compliance mode. Now any time a rogue device is plugged in, the
administrator is immediately notified and the device is segregated to a restricted
Web server. The Mirage Networks device is as easy and secure as I hoped, improving
our network uptime and giving us a true sense of network security."
\"Mirage offers government and public institutions like DHCD a new level of network
security and the easiest NAC deployment in the industry," said Greg Stock, president
and CEO, Mirage Networks. "We're excited to be working with DHCD to realize their
high standards of policy compliance and threat deterrence."
